Boxes

Discontinued: unfortunately today's browsers don't like java applets as much as they used to, so it's becoming increasingly difficult to run these java-based activities. Please check out the other puzzles & games instead.

This is another java game, again recreating an old pen-and-paper favourite. This time the game is boxes, where the object is to draw lines between the dots in the grid to enclose squares. Each player takes it in turns to draw lines, and when a box is completed, the player who completed it gains ownership of that box. Whoever owns the greater number of boxes at the end of the game, wins.

In this version, you can play against one or more computer opponents, as well as against your friends.

Go!

OK, now you're ready. Can you beat the computer?
